Seeds are In-Stock
We are fully stocked with a wide variety of seeds. Wholesalers and retailers are running out of seeds, so stock up early.
We have been stocking Botanical Interests since we opened. I have personally used them for 25 years. They are a Colorado based, family owned business. All of their seeds are non-GMO, with many OMRI seeds. Their packets are like a little encyclopedia’s with all kinds of interesting facts about the plant.
At Botanical Interests, our goal is to inspire and educate the gardener in you. That is why, since 1995 we have been supplying garden centers and home gardeners with the highest quality seed in the most beautiful and informative seed packets on the market. Curtis and Judy started Botanical Interests because they believed that gardeners were not getting the information they needed on seed packets. Their desire to provide more information led them to create a unique seed packet that includes art, garden history, landscape ideas, organic gardening know-how, recipes, fun facts, and of course, high-quality seed.
New Seed Supplier
We were lucky to find J & D Heirloom Seeds this season. They filled in the gap in our seed collection. We look forward to doing even more business with them in the future.
J & D Heirloom Seeds is a Family seed business Located in Montrose Colorado. It all started in 2010 by two brothers Joseph and Dodi, at ages 10 and 12. Since then they have been happy to sell their seeds nationwide. Their passion for gardening has led them to pursue their interest in collecting heirloom seeds, so they can preserve and share them for the next generation. We grow everything without the use of chemicals or pesticides and NON GMO.
This is the first year we are trying winter sowing. Winter-Sowing is an outdoor method of seed germination. You just need two things, miniature greenhouses and Mother Nature. You can make a greenhouse from any clear or translucent plastic container. Gallon jugs, take out containers, 2 liter soda bottles, or even baggies.
We used a water jug. The first thing you do is cut the jug, leaving it hinged at the handle. We cut ours all the way around. Live and learn.
Now you need to put holes in the bottom. We used a drill but you can use a hot glue gun or boxcutter.
Then partially fill the container with soil. We used a combination of Black Gold Seedling Mix and Compost. We also added Roots 1-step, which is a blend of mycorrhizae and beneficial bacteria. This will allow the plants to better acquiesce nutrients. Thoroughly water the soil.
Now add your seeds. We did sweet peas and broccoli.
The next step is to seal the container.
Make sure the top lid is not on so the plants get air. Then put your container outside into the elements. We are leaving ours in an unheated greenhouse to protect them from strong winds.
We will be doing more as we use more containers. I will keep you updated on the progress.
